Everybody need a little TLC(Preview)

Last time I posted a blog it was for the Survivor Series preview. And for the record, I was 4-2. So I am glad to say that I am mounting a come back. 

The Survivor Series was an amazing surprising event, where there were things that we could predict, but things that we had no idea would happen. Overall it was a great event. Now we are on our way to getting some TLC. So without further ado, let’s do a TLC preview. 

Kalisto vs. Baron Corbin in a Chairs match: I am not very interested in this match. I see Baron Corbin winning this one. The company seems to be real big on Corbin, and right now I just don’t see what all the hype is about, but again that’s just me. So with the company being so big on Corbin, I don’t see how Kalisto will pull out this victory. Corbin all the way.

 Nikki Bella vs. Carmella in a No Disqualification match: This should be a good match. Since Nikki Bella came back from injury at SummerSlam, Carmella has been a throne in her side. She has ambushed her, and given her cheap shots at every turn. I have so say I think this was a great since before that happened it seemed like Carmella would just be another lady who we don’t think about, but now she is someone we all(especially Nikki Bella) look out for. With that said however, I think that Nikki has been taking enough of a beating for the last few months. I think this is where she gets her revenge. I say Nikki Bella wins this match. 

Heath Slater and Rhyno (c) vs. The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton) For the WWE(Smackdown) Tag Team Championships: I don’t have much analysis for this match to be honest with you. I think it is weird that Randy is a member of the Wyatt Family, and I also think it is weird that they almost came out of nowhere to become the #1 contenders for the tag team titles. But here we are. So I think that the Heath Slater thing has run its course. I don’t know if there is any way they could make us care about this team anymore, so I think that means that we will have new champions. So I say the Wyatt Family wins.

The Miz (c) (with Maryse) vs. Dolph Ziggler in a Ladder match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship: This may be the match of the night. This maybe the longest running feud that will be settled in one of the most exciting matches that WWE has to offer. Now going into the match, I do not have any idea of who could win; I could make reasons for both guys to win. The Miz should win because we saw what happens after Dolph won the belt last time. We pretty much stopped caring about the IC title. Dolph should win because Miz has had the IC title for most of this year, and it is time for him to set his sights on bigger and better things. So I think the latter is true. I think that dolph will win the IC title back so that Miz can concentrate on the WWE World Championship. 

Becky Lynch (c) vs. Alexa Bliss in a Tables match for the WWE SmackDown Women's Championship: I think that we are all see that Women wrestlers (not just in WWE) do not want to be considered just pretty faces. They are wrestlers and they want to have the same matches as the men. So I think this is the 1^st time we will see a women’s table match, and for the (Smackdown) Women’s title no less. I hope to see a good match between these 2 ladies since we have never seen a tables match, but if it is anything like the Hell in a Cell match we saw for the Raw women’s championship we are in for a treat. I think Becky Lynch will win this match. I just don’t think we have seen a lot of her as champ, and I think they will keep the belt on her for a little bit longer. 

AJ Styles (c) vs. Dean Ambrose in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match for the WWE World Championship: Finally we have the WWE World Championship match in a TLC match. They have kept this feud going for a long time as well, I guess you can do that when you split the rosters and give guys a chance to actually tell stories. Dean has been trying and trying to get the belt back from AJ since he lost it at Backlash, but AJ has managed to keep a hold of the title ever since. I think this match is going to be as rough and tumble as any other match on this Pay per View. I think that AJ will retain the title and pull down the belt. Wow I am going all chalk on this PPV. Oh well. 

These are my picks of the day. Tell me what you think. This week I do not have anything that I am thinking would be awesome, so instead I will announce who my World Heavyweight Champion is. Now if you remember from last blog, I told you guys that once a week I would name a wrestler my WHC meaning that this is who I think the best wrestler is. I think they are great in the ring, on the mic, and overall when they come on the screen I have to stop what I am doing and watch. So I have 2 runners up, and one champion. My 2^nd runner up is AJ Styles. He is the man; he has the belt, and is really the face that runs the place. My 1^st runner up I will have to admit is Roman Reigns. Roman has been a work horse, and he has been carrying the Raw side of WWE. And let me say something else, I know that the fans hate him because he has gotten too much way too fast, and trust me, I agree with them, but he has been doing the best he can. It is not his fault that he looks like he should be a champion. And lastly after he hit Shane McMahon with the spear, and gave both him and Shane a concussion, some of the fans were chanting “Roman’s sleeping”. If you were doing that you are an idiot. He clearly was not all there. There was no reason for you idiots to chant at a dude who went out there are put his body on the line to entertain you, and apparently hurt himself. But I digress. My WHC this week is…………Charlotte. Charlotte has been amazing for almost a whole year now. She looks great in street clothes as well as wrestling attire. Her mic work is almost flawless. Everything together makes her the greatest wrestler in my eyes today. Oh, and whenever she is in a big spot, she always produces, see WrestleMania, and Hell in a Cell. She is the best in the world at what she does.

Survivor Series Preview

I wrote a blog yesterday that I wanted to have posted and do a separate one with predictions. But I did not save it, so here we are just one blog (I know, I know you guys are so disappointed). Tonight’s blog will be a combination of predictions and what I found interesting leading up to the Survivor Series Pay Per View tonight.

Let’s start off by talking about what I have enjoyed leading up to this event tonight. I am a big fan of this past week of wrestling. The final showdown between teams Raw and SmackDown was pretty good, with team Raw going over on Monday night Raw. It only makes sense to me. Then the next night on SmackDown, instead of there being yet another standoff with both teams on SmackDown, there was an unexpected run in by the Team Raw Women during a match between 2 of the women on the SmackDown team. And then at the end of the night the Undertaker came back. Taker’s return would not be that much of a surprise, except he said that he will no longer be defined by just WrestleMania. Does this mean he will come back to be a full time wrestler again? Does this mean he will enter the Royal Rumble? Only time will tell. And lastly, what about the stare down between Brock Lesnar and Goldberg? I will admit that Goldberg looks very sloppy. He does not look to have his timing down yet, but he looked pretty good for his age. I think Goldberg will go out there and get himself hurt, but I have to admit, I am looking forward to this match. 

So without further ado, let’s get to the predictions. Before that, I will let you all know that I am not doing so well with the predictions, since I started keeping track of them. I am sporting a 7-8 record in the last 2. But I look at this as an opportunity to get better. 

The Brian Kendrick (c) vs. Kalisto : For the Cruiserweight Championship, and if Kalisto wins the Cruiserweights go to SmackDown: Raw has the 3 hour show so they can have the room to have the cruiserweights. With them adding another show on the WWE Network for cruiserweights, I just don’t see how SmackDown can take the cruiserweights, as they are a 2 hour show that is packed as it is. Although if they say that the new cruiserweight show (which is called “205 Live”) is an extension of SmackDown, then I could see that happening. So with that said, I guess I will pick Kalisto to bring the cruiserweights, and their championship to SmackDown. 

Team Raw [The New Day (Big E and/or Kofi Kingston and/or Xavier Woods), Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, Sheamus and Cesaro, Enzo Amore and Big Cass, and The Shining Stars (Primo and Epico)] vs. Team SmackDown LIVE [Heath Slater and Rhyno, The Hype Bros (Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley), American Alpha (Jason Jordan and Chad Gable), The Usos (Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso), and Breezango (Tyler Breeze and Fandango)]: I will have to admit that this is a bit of a stretch of a match. I would say there are maybe three relevant teams on each side. No offense, but you could cut the club and the shining stars from Raw, and Breezango, and the Tag Champs Slater, and Rhyno from both teams and this would be more interesting. But we have to go with what we have. This is going to but a lot to follow with 20 men in total but I think this will be a win for the Raw team. 

Team Raw [Charlotte Flair, Bayley, Nia Jax, Alicia Fox, and Sasha Banks] (with Dana Brooke) vs. Team SmackDown LIVE [Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, Carmella, and Naomi] (with Natalya): I think the women have done excellent work to make this the event of the night (which is the 3^rd time this year if you include the WrestleMania triple threat and the Hell in a Cell main event). I don’t know if I have told any of you (my millions…….and millions of readers) but I am not a Bayley fan. Beyond that, I like every other woman in this match. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us in this match. As for the outcome I believe that the Raw women will bring home this victory. I think they have a much stronger team with Charlotte and Nia Jax, than you have fan favorites like Bayley and Sasha Banks. As much as the fans like Nikki and Becky, I think that the Raw team is way too strong. 

The Miz (c) (with Maryse) vs. Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental: This will be an interesting match with the guy who I think could be the best in the game right now, the Miz. I believe that ever since Maryse came back and gave people more of a reason to hate the Miz, they have played that up. And when they put them both on SmackDown, it has given them more freedom to develop and that is what both of them have done. Miz has come out and fought to make the Intercontinental Championship a title that we care about, and not the afterthought that it was before. Sami Zayn on the other hand, has not done much as of late, so I don’t see him winning. Besides, with the US title on RAW, SmackDown would need a mid-card title. Since the US title is not even being defended, I don’t see why they would do this. So my choice is the Miz. 

Team Raw (Kevin Owens, Chris Jericho, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Seth Rollins) vs. Team SmackDown LIVE (AJ Styles, Dean Ambrose, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton, and Shane McMahon) (with James Ellsworth): Here we go… the big one. There will be a lot of match ups in this one that we have not seen in a long time since the brand extension. We could see Dean Ambrose vs his former teammates from the shield (Reigns and Rollins). AJ Styles vs Reigns again, or even Owens. And what about Shane McMahon being in this match? We haven’t seen him fight any of the guys on the RAW team before. But you guys want to know who I am going to pick. Since the 1^st time they did the brand extension back in 2002 (which they don’t bring up, almost like it didn’t happen) whenever you had a SmackDown Vs Raw match of substance, it has always been SmackDown coming out on top. And even during this brand extension, the main event on the Smackdown on the night of the draft for the WWE World Championship, Dean Ambrose Beat Seth Rollins. So I feel like I know how this is going to turn out. Team SmackDown will prevail. 

Brock Lesnar (with Paul Heyman) vs. Goldberg: This is going to be amazing. I am not a huge fan of Brock Lesnar matches since he came back to WWE in 2012. I think almost all of them since, have been really boring, highlighted by the World Heavyweight Title match between him and John Cena at SummerSlam in 2014. I don’t expect this match to be any different, but I am looking so forward to it. Brock does bring a big fight feel to all of his matches. And Goldberg has always had this mystique to him. He has always looked like an indestructible monster. So who will win……..? I am going to pick the Beast Brock Lesnar to win this match, but Goldberg will put up a good fight. 

Alright everyone, these are my predictions. I know we can turn this around. I hope you all enjoy this pay per view like I will and we should have plenty of new things to talk about come next week. Oh one more thing, I would like to start something new. This portion of the blog will be called “Wouldn’t it be awesome if…..” This part will be very simple. This will be something that is floating around my brain. It probably won’t come true, but it is something that I think would be awesome. So here we go: Wouldn’t it be Awesome if……..John Cena came back tonight and beat the crap out of team SmackDown for not adding him to the team, and finally turns heel. Again, I am not saying this will happen because I do not read wrestling spoilers, but if it did happen I think it would be pretty awesome. Thank you for reading and I will talk to you next week.

Hell in a Cell Preview

Tonight is the night of another WWE pay per view. Tonight it is “Hell in a Cell”. There will be a few matches that take place in the Hell in a Cell structure. So that means it is time once again for predictions.

Last time I did predictions was for SummerSlam. I had a .500 record going 4-4. Like I said last week I will be doing predictions and keeping up with them. So you all can call me out if they are bad. Now I will say that it is not starting off too good, but I will turn it around. So without further ado, and because I am getting this out later than I wanted to, let’s do some predictions. 

                Bayley vs. Dana Brooke: I think I misspelled Bayley’s name in a prior blog, sorry Bayley. I have to say that I think Dana Brooke is getting a lot better than people want to give her credit for. I know that she started off rough, but she is getting so much better. But as we all know the WWE and the fans LOVE Bayley, so I will pick Bayley to win the match, and line herself up for a Bayley vs the winner of the Woman’s championship match. 

                Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson: I like the fact the Anderson and Gallows are saying that they don’t want any more fun and games in the Tag Team division. You all know how I feel about these guys, I loved them with AJ Styles. It makes sense because of their history, but without him, I feel like they are floundering a little bit. Although I could see Gallows and Anderson getting a win, and lining themselves up for a Tag Team title shot, I don’t see them winning over Enzo, and Cass. So Enzo and Cass with the win. 

                  WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match T.J. Perkins (c) vs. Brian Kendrick: I think they are doing good things with The Brian Kendrick, but I think that it is way too early for them to take the belt off of Perkins and give it to Kendrick. Maybe at Survivor Series, because I think they have something with him. He is mysteyous, and that is interesting, but I will pick Perkins for tonight. 

                WWE Tag Team Championship Match The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and/or Xavier Woods) (c) vs. Cesaro and Sheamus: I feel like this is the beginning of the end of the New Day. Now I would love it if these guys start to focus on singles competition, and I don’t think they can do it as a tag team. Now I am not happy with the way Sheamus and Cesaro came together as a team. I think there is no reason for them to be together. But I also feel like they did not put these guys to together for them to lose in their 1^st tag team title match. So I say Cesaro and Sheamus win the Tag Team Championship. 

                United States Championship Match Roman Reigns (c) vs. Rusev: Roman Reigns just got this match at the last pay per view. I do not see them taking it off of him that fast. I think these guys beat the crap out of each other, and this match is in the Hell in a Cell. But I don’t really think there is too much to say about this match. Roman Reigns retains. 

                Woman’s Championship Match Sasha Banks (c) vs. Charlotte Flair: These two woman have been battling since they have made it to the main roster. And they have brought the house down almost every single time they have had a match. I think tonight will be no exception. And did I mention that this will be in Hell in a Cell also. As far as my prediction, if Sasha is not hurt, I think she will retain. Charolette will regain the title, but not tonight. And Sasha is in her home town. So Sasha wins tonight. 

                WWE Universal Championship Match Kevin Owens (c) vs. Seth Rollins: The main event, Owens Rollins Hell in a Cell. I will be honest with you guys, I am kinda over these 2. I think that they have run this story into the ground, and I am ready for them to move on. But with that said, I think Owens retains tonight, and this rivalry gets a reboot. I think maybe Triple H will interfer and this will lead to Rollins Vs Triple H at some point.

No Mercy Review

Today we will do a review of the last few weeks of WWE wrestling. I have been away for a bit catching up on all of the main roster wrestling that has been happening lately. Last time I wrote you guys, I was just saying how impressed I was with what it looks like is happening in WWE. I think that they are doing good things.

Now we have a pay per view coming next week, “Hell in a Cell”, and I will have predictions coming up (also I will have the results of my last predictions, because why not, right) but before we get to that, lets just talk about some of the good I have seen in the WWE for the last month or so, and let’s  start with “No Mercy”.

This pay per view started with the main event, the WWE World championship match AJ Styles vs John Cena Vs Dean Ambrose. This was a very interesting match. These 3 guys work really well together, and this was a really good match, maybe the match of the night (if not for a different match that we will talk about later).  This was a back and forth match, with all 3 guys scoring near falls through out. The match almost ended with both Ambrose and Cena making Styles tap out, as they both had him in some form of a submission. But because both guys had him in a submission, there was no clear winner, and the match was restarted. After the restart, AJ used a chair to pick up the victory. Like I said before, I think this was a really good match, I am not a big fan of them having this match to start the night, but WWE decided to do this to avoid going head to head with the presidential debate. 

I would say the only other match that is worth even mentioning, is the Intercontinental championship match between The Miz, and Dolph Ziggler. Now if you were a subscriber to my old blog (themain-event.blogspot.com), you will see that I wrote a blog about both of these guys. I thought a few years ago that these guys would be the future, and this is where it all came together. This program has been excellent all the way around. The back ground videos, the matches where Ziggler almost won, but Maryse, the Miz’s wife, sprayed him in the face with hair spray, and Miz bringing out the Spirit Squad to make fun of Dolph. These guys have been doing some of the best work in the company. I would be happy to see them take this feud to the big time. Anyway, after saying all of that, Dolph Ziggler won the title. He was putting his career on the line, and he completed his goal of winning the IC belt, and continuing to compete in WWE. 

Outside of that, to be honest with you guys, the reset of the card was a dud. The women’s title match did not take place, because Becky Lynch was hurt. The tag team titles did not change hands, even though the Usos are far more interesting as heels than they are as baby faces. I have to say that I would love to see them get traded to RAW, for the club, and have the club with AJ as one heel faction, and the Usos and Roman Reigns as a heel faction. That would be amazing. 

Well I guess that is as good of a place as any to stop for this week. Check back in later this week, before “Hell in a Cell”. I will do a preview blog. And for fun, I will have my record for my other predictions for the other pay per views. Have a great week watching wrestling people. I think they are on to something!

I have been gone for a little bit of time. I wanted to give the brand extension 2016 some time to find its way. Now that we have SummerSlam, Backlash, and a month to figure out what is going on in our WWE wrestling world, I am here to give you the things that I have noticed from the perspective of a black wrestling guy. And remember peeps, this is a positive blog, for the most part. Yes I know there are things that could be better, and things we all don’t like, but can we just be happy that we are getting some entertaining wrestling.

                The Universoul Championship (sorry I could not resist, some of you out there get it)

Okay, let’s get it out of the way I have to say that at I was not quite a fan of the Universal Championship. And when the belt was unveiled, and I still was not much of a fan. I think that for the sake of WWE the fans, and all of us belt geeks, it would have been cool to either call it the World Heavyweight Championship, and/or bring back the Big Gold Belt. That is one of the most iconic belts to ever come from wrestling. For us belt geeks this is maybe 1 or 1a of the reason why we all got into belt collecting ($5 to the 1^st person who can answer what the other belt is). So as someone who loves belts, and the lineage of the titles, the creation of a brand new one, not one from WCW, ECW, WCCW, USWA, AWA, or any other territory it engulfed in the past 60 years of doing business, but instead they bring some belt out of nowhere that no one has ever heard of. But after watching the matches for the title (there have been 2 since Fin Baylor the 1^st winner of title hurt himself in the title match at SummerSlam) I am becoming more of a fan. RAW has to have a champion, the show is too big, and has too long of a legacy. If the WWE championship was just on RAW, there is a good chance that we would not pay attention. So RAW has to have a title. And it seems like they are looking towards the future. With that being the case, I don’t think they want to bring back any old belts, much to our chagrin.  

Now let’s get to the belt design(s). I know I was just talking about the Universal Championship, but I am not a huge fan of all of the belts looking the same, especially the Tag Team belts. One is copper, and one is silver. The silver ones look like 2^nd place belts. Why not just they have with the same design, but make the leather a different color, or here is a radical idea, if both brands are totally separate; why not just both belts look the same have. The 2 champs should never cross paths, so why not just have 2 tag team championships that look the same.

But again this is not a blog about how much I am not into the new belts. Let’s talk about all of the great things that I am seeing on TV. Okay, let me start with SmackDown. I love the new SmackDown, or should I say SmackDown live, even though RAW is live, and we don’t say RAW live. I think they are doing some great things. Although I am still not a fan of Dean Ambrose, he on SD works. And I love the fact that guys like John Cena, and AJ Styles are there. That says to me even though RAW has some built in advantages, SD will not be swept under the rug. I love the Tag Team Tournament, and the aftermath of it. The whole Health Slater angle has been hilarious, and I am looking forward to the Usos’ heal turn. I feel like they have gone as far as they can go being nice guys and I am digging seeing them be mean. The SD women’s division has a new champion, Becky Lynch. I am not that into Becky, but the audience seems to be, but I think she is a good inaugural champion. I don’t really know what is going on with the Intercontinental Championship picture, but I love everything the MIZ is doing. He makes me care about the IC title more than I have in a long long time. Oh, and I also want to say that as of the time that I am writing this, AJ Styles has won the WWE Championship. If you all remember from an old blog (insert blog here), someone tried to tell you all who were not watching TNA about this dude named AJ Style (Shout out Jeremy Dotson, love you bro!), and now he is the top guy in WWE. Everything they are doing is giving me the confidence that they will be able to sustain their momentum in the years to come.

                And now on to Monday Night Raw. I know a lot of people are down on RAW, and I can’t say that I blame them too much. The show is 3 hours, and they have been having trouble trying to fill the time. But I will say they I am enjoying most elements of RAW. I don’t necessarily like the pre-match interviews before the matches from the 2 monsters on the roster, in Braun Stroman, and Nya Jax, but I love to watch these massive human beings have squash matches against the home town talent. I think it makes both of them look unbeatable, and to build up the credibility of the roster, you need people like that. The women’s division is so interesting right now. Although I think on the mic Sasha Banks, and Baily, are light years behind Charlotte, I think that they are good in the ring. And for as much hell as Dana Brooke takes, she carried that match between her Sasha and Baily. And might I add that every time I see Charlotte in street clothes she could not look more like a champion. She and her father have an uncanny ability to just look so regal in clothes. They look like they were born to be champions. I think that keep Roman in the mid card spot right now is what is best; until they decide to turn him heel anyway. And finally the WWE Universoul (that is a play on the Universoul Circus) Championship, I like what they are doing. The SummerSlam match was good, and that is with Fin Baylor separating his shoulder (can we say that Seth has a tendency to do hurt guys in championship matches i.e.: Sting). Then after he vacated the title, the fatal four way match was spectacular, including the surprise return of Triple H, to turn on his guy, his “plan B”, and basically hand the title to Kevin Owens. Now Owens is the face of RAW.

                I am looking forward to see what WWE has to offer in the weeks to come of the new era. Let me know what you think, and let’s try to keep it positive. I know we as wrestling fans can be very opinionated, and jaded, but this is the business that we love, so let’s remember why we enjoy it in the 1^st place, and stop acting like we know better than the people who are doing this and have been doing it since way before most of us were even thought of.
